The Data Justice Lab teamed up with our friends at Datactive (University of Amsterdam), ITforChange (India) and others for a session at the annual digital rights convention RightsCon which took place 16-18 May in Toronto. The session The Fight Against the Institutional Datafication of Social Life brought together civil society members from four different continents to discuss responses to the increasing role of data in governance. Lab co-director Arne Hintz discussed our ongoing work about the role of data in governance and the need for different sections of civil society to come together to discuss both the opportunities and challenges of this. The session was part of our ongoing engagement with civil society groups worldwide.
