We are delighted to announce the publication of our special issue on Data Justice for Information, Communication & Society. With this special issue we have sought to capture some of the diversity and nuances that were prevalent at our conference last May and, together, form the debate on data justice. The eight articles that are collected for the issue were all presented at the conference and speak to some of the key themes that were discussed. They also provide a range of approaches and understandings of both the possibilities and challenges of the concept and how it may be applied in different contexts. Encompassing both conceptual and empirical work from across the globe, the articles help us advance the meaning of data justice, the kinds of debates and sites of study such a notion invites, and steer us towards future directions of research.
