Implications of the Coronavirus for the Data Justice Conference

The spread of the Coronavirus is affecting conferences and other events around the globe, as well as international travel. At the Data Justice Lab, we are observing the situation closely and are evaluating the potential impact on the second Data Justice Conference – Civic Participation in the Datafied Society – scheduled for 28/29 May at Cardiff University. While planning for this conference is continuing and the UK has not, so far, been among the countries that are most affected, we are aware that the situation is evolving rapidly.

For now we are continuing preparations for the conference for its intended dates. At the same time, we are considering alternative options, incl. postponing the conference until September. We will try to make a decision about this within the next two weeks, i.e. by 20 March.

We advise all those conference participants who have not yet booked their travel to hold off the booking until a definite decision has been made. We hope that everyone understands that these are exceptional cirumstances.
