On June 28th Ina Sander and Jess Brand presented some of Sander’s and the Data Justice Lab’s research on critical data literacy at the National Association of Data Protection Officer’s (NADPO) monthly research webinar. The presentation outlined research findings on a range of critical data literacy tools for citizen empowerment which Sander has been exploring as part of her PhD research. It also discussed two literacy guidebooks created as part of the Lab’s project Civic Participation in the Scoring Society: Towards Democratic Auditing, focusing on advancing collective, bottom-up approaches to critical data literacy and participatory responses within the public sector.
