Discussing participatory data governance with the Citizens Data Agency

On 11 December, Lab co-Directors Joanna Redden and Arne Hintz will join an online event by the Citizens Data Agency at University of Edinburgh to discuss civic and participatory approaches to data governance. Drawing from research findings of our recent projects Towards Democratic Auditing and Democratizing the Datafied Society, they will explore opportunities and challenges of engaging citizens and the public on policy- and decision-making about data and AI.

This event will be the latest in a series of workshops and conferences where Lab members have discussed these topics and our recent projects, and have contributed on growing debates about the need for civic participation in data governance. For example, Arne Hintz was a panelist at the launch of the BRAID programme on 15 September which explores broadening the discourse on Responsible AI to the arts and humanities, and where he addressed the question “Who is responsible for Responsible AI”?
